Our vision for Lyndhurst Junior School is for our children to leave us literate and numerate; hardworking; able to communicate; confident in themselves and compassionate. We work hard to provide a creative and challenging curriculum in order to build children’s skills, confidence and self-esteem.
Our ‘Learning Powers’ encourage children to develop the good characteristics for successful learners. Every child and every adult is valued and developed and we are committed to safeguarding. Our parents and governors are supportive and fully involved in school life.
We aim to meet the needs of individual pupils through the delivery of broad, balanced, engaging and differentiated learning opportunities designed to provide the right level of challenge. We are committed to assessment for learning, and our marking and feedback identifies progress and achievement and moves children on to their next step. We are keen to help you support your child’s learning and offer a range of ways to do this.
Our extra-curricular clubs vary depending on the time of year and availability of coaches and staff but have included: Cookery, Football, News Club and Netball!
We already have excellent links with our Kings Group family of schools in Spain and Panama which provides us with opportunities for our children and teachers to connect and share learning with children in British schools across the globe. We are introducing Spanish as our chosen Modern Foreign Language which will also continue into their secondary school.
At a local level we value our work with our feeder schools which include College Park Infants and Mayfield School. We plan many events and activities together. Transition for our prospective Year Three children is planned carefully and a number of visits are made before they join us, to make the move as smooth as possible.
At Lyndhurst Junior School we enjoy excellent technology resources to support learning. We also make the most of our facilities such as our cookery room, art room and music room.
We often need help from parents and would welcome more volunteers to listen to children read, help in school, accompany children on trips and to help with events in school.
I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our school.
